MY STORY
ACTOR – SINGER – WRITER – ARTIST
Thank you for visiting my site and taking time today to get to know me better! I am a S. Korean native, East coast lived and SoCal raised.
My journey as an actor is a long time coming, growing up in an era where I didn’t see anyone on tv, nor in film that looked like me. I had immigrant parents who championed assimilation and academics vs the arts, and I found myself top of my class in academics yet pulled at the core towards singing, acting, writing, and painting.
I studied opera and did musical theatre, jazz choir and drama throughout childhood and H.S. while focusing on my academics. After graduating college with a BA in Psychology and moonlighting with drama, pursued a career in acting and as a recording artist, touring and training all around Los Angeles at renowned studios. It was a wonderful pursuit and after a long season, left to spend 20+ years in the corporate world and as a wife and mother and entrepreneur.
I am now returning to my first loves and passions in the arts, as an actor, singer and writer. The landscape has changed quite a bit with diversity and content that inspires me daily, and gives me the hope that you can pursue your dreams at any age.
So here I am, older, wiser, with robust life experience living my dream from childhood in a time where now MY stories are told.
I have decided to refine my craft further, and after robust conservatory acting re-training over the last 2 years, I proudly share on this site the various characters I play today from dramatic to comedic. Or throwback to seeing me as one of the first original S. Korean pop/r&b singers lay groundwork in the early 2000’s (aka Cat Kim).
